Fifth Request a Payment Service winner announced!
Announcing our final winner of the Request a Payment Service Raffle – David Vecchio! Congratulations, David!!!
We asked David to share his personal story as a 3D designer living in Buenos Aires.
“I’m a 3D Designer from Argentina. I do 3D renderings for architectural projects and product visualization. My job allows me to work from anywhere as long as I have decent internet speeds. I currently spend most of the year traveling around Thailand and Russia.
I started working as a freelancer about a year after I got my first job as a video editor, during my college studies. I was completely certain that I didn’t want an office job or anything like it. I always aimed to have a job that I was passionate about and allowed me to be independent so that I could do what I love the most: traveling.
One of the biggest challenges was getting started as a freelancer. It took me some time to find regular clients and adapt to the fact that I rarely had a steady monthly income. I also found it very hard to manage my time efficiently, and sometimes I would take more projects than I could handle. But with time and persistence I could figure out how to organize my time and achieve a good balance between work and leisure.
One of the things I hear the most from aspiring freelance designers is that it’s very hard to find jobs online. While it is true that there’s a lot of competition, jobs are abundant. If you manage to stand out from the rest, you won’t have any trouble getting jobs online. A good portfolio and great communication skills will certainly get you a lot of work.
Being from Argentina, it was complicated for me to receive payments from foreign clients. When I started working on Upwork I found out about Payoneer and it was the perfect solution to this problem. Not only I could easily transfer money from Upwork, but I could also receive payments from other clients. Also, considering how often I travel, the Payoneer card is very convenient, as it is widely accepted anywhere in the world.
The Request a Payment Service made everything much easier for me and my clients. Commissions are low, there are no long waiting periods, and the process for payments is simple for my clients. Another big advantage is that I can keep all my finances well organized within the same platform.”
