Your Launchpad for Global Success: A Recap From Our Delhi Forum

This year’s Payoneer Launchpad for Global Success forum in Delhi, held on July 25th, 2019, was a one-stop-shop for sellers interested in learning how to take their businesses to the next level. It consisted of both Payoneer representatives and leading marketplaces, technology providers, financial institutions and service enablers discussing the future of eCommerce and how sellers are best able to maximize their cross-border capabilities.

The day started with opening remarks from Payoneer’s VP of South Asia, Rohit Kulkarni, who emphasized Payoneer’s position as an ecosystem in which cross-border businesses can thrive and expand into new markets. Then, Payoneer’s sales lead for eCommerce, Amit Arora, introduced the audience to Payoneer’s product line, including innovations like e-FIRC for Indian sellers. He also announced a key partnership initiative with Paytabs, through which sellers can take advantage of a payment gateway on their webstores.

From eBay to Amazon to DHL – Highlights from Delhi

Following Amit’s presentation, speakers representing a wide range of industry leaders took the stage to discuss new developments in the world of eCommerce. Highlights included:

  • Changing consumer preferences – A panel, which included speakers from eBay, Amazon and Google Shopping discussed the changing preferences among global consumers and their impact on the Indian seller community.

  • The evolution of Chinese sellers – Shawn Zhao from HyperSKU discussed the evolution of the Chinese seller ecosystem, as well as the dropshipping industry and how it can be a useful method for the Indian seller community.
  • Google Shopping – Amit Jain from Google Shopping shared his thoughts on how the platform is experimenting and exploring different ways for sellers to reach their likely customers without being intrusive.

  • Amazon Global Trade – Amazon discussed how they recently included global sales for their newly acquired Souq entity, and how it opens up new opportunities for their community.
  • Building your business by building your brand – A speaker from Shopify discussed how sellers can create a brand by building their webstore and charge a premium for custom products.
  • Taxation – Kunal Choudhary and Akanksha Jain from Ernst & Young informed sellers of new cross-border sales regulations and their impact on tax and regulatory filings.
  • Logistical improvementsDHL informed the audience of new logistical innovations that are leading to a better supply chain for cross-border sellers. Their recent innovations, such as BBX are simplifying the transfer of goods, making them an efficient and cost-effective solution for sellers every day.
  • Scaling your business through webstore – A speaker from Shopify discussed the importance of creating a brand and reaching out to customers directly. He focused on how building a brand helps ensure better profit margins.

The Delhi forum also included several workshops focusing on logistics, taxation and various eCommerce platforms, as well as the day to day issues impacting the seller community. The workshops provided actionable insights into the world of eCommerce, giving attendees the information they need to help take their business global.
