Payoneer Attends BASIS SoftExpo 2020 with Bank Asia: Event Recap
Earlier last month, Payoneer attended BASIS SoftExpo in Bangladesh, the largest private-sector exhibition of IT & ITES products and services focused on creating collaborative relationships at a global level. The event was attended by trade delegations from Sweden, Japan, Netherlands and other countries to experience the immense potential of the Bangladeshi ICT industry.
For the third year in a row, we’re proud to have participated in this momentous event with our banking partner Bank Asia and we must admit – this year’s SoftExpo was bigger and better than ever before!
BASIS SoftExpo 2020 was a four-day long event inaugurated by the President of Bangladesh, Mr. Abdul Hamid, and included over 30 sessions delivered by more than 300 national and international exhibitors as well as about 100 speakers. The SoftExpo hosted the largest ICT career camp with more than 2,000 students and the innovative project show-casing saw participation from 45+ universities.
Our outsourcing conference with Bank Asia at the BASIS SoftExpo2020 was a huge success and had a turnout of over 200 online professionals and outsourcing businesses. Speakers included Ms. Farhana A. Rahman, Senior Vice President at BASIS who highlighted the role of BASIS in scaling up local businesses and Mr. Md. Zia Arfin, Senior Executive Vice President & Head of International Division at Bank Asia who shared Bank Asia’s contribution to the outsourcing ecosystem.
Other speakers included – Minhaz Anwar, Head of StartUp Ecosystem at Grameenphone, Abdullah Jayed, Founder & CEO at Jayed Corp. and Kowser Ahmed Nirob, Founder & CEO at CutOutWiz. Speakers were followed by a panel discussion around Leadership and Management for the New Era, moderated by Nahid Hasan and Emrazina Islam along with Kawshar Ahmed, CEO at JoomShaper, Raisul Kabir, Co-Founder & CEO at Brain Station and Saidur Mamun Khan, Head of Marketing Data Operations at Upwork.
In addition, our local Payoneer team was present – Emrazina Islam our Payoneer Brand Ambassador and Nahid Hasan, Head of Business Development in Bangladesh. They were accompanied by Prasanna Rao, Head of Marketing SAMENA and Amit Arora, International Sales Lead at Payoneer. Prasanna talked about how Payoneer is well positioned to form the most robust global payments platform in the market today, making it easier for our customers to grow internationally and to anticipate their needs as a modern, digital business.

In addition to the conference, Payoneer along with Bank Asia, also took part as an exhibitor in the Fintech Zone which was visited by over 400 people. The event was truly a congregation of ICT companies, personalities, key policymakers, industry leaders and other ICT stakeholders.
